Chris' top twelve favourite pieces are listed here. Some of them introduce new techniques and concepts to the repertoire. They are given in order of date.

 


The Top Twelve

1988 - Two Haiku (on Australian themes) - for mezzo-soprano andflute. Level - university student. 

1989 - The Mayfly. A lecture by Dr David Suzuki rendered as a song cycle for mezzo-soprano and mixed ensemble (an El Cimarron line-up).

1994 - String Quartet (Seascapes). Level - university ensemble or professional quartet. 

1997 - Eastern Intermezzo - arrangement of a Grainger work foralto saxophone, mandolin and guitar. Level - professional or good university students. 

2000 - North Country Sketches - for solo guitar. Uses bi-tones. Level - professional or good student. 

2001 - Concerto for Guitar (The Luthier) - commissioned for theDarwin International Guitar Festival 2002. Soloist, Spanish virtuoso Jose Maria Gallardo del Rey. Level - professional orchestra or good university orchestra with a world-class soloist. 

2004 - My Eye Has Seen My Desire - bass recorder and guitar,or bassoon and guitar). Level - professional or university ensemble. 

2006 - The Internet Round - for a cappella choir. Level - community choir or university choir. 

2007 - Symphony of the Birds  (and First Light) - for orchestra. Commissioned by the Central Coast Conservatorium and the Central Coast Symphony, Gosford City. Level - professional orchestra, good university orchestra or good community orchestra. 

2009 -Bushfire - a Concerto for Cor anglais and Strings. Commissioned by Rachel Tolmie and the Concertante Ensemble, Gosford City.

2011 - Brackish Songs - for Mezzo-soprano and contemporary guitar. 

2011 - Civic Melancholy - for two pianos. In six movements, each being an insight into Australian regional life. Based on images by Jamie Holcombe. Level - Pro or Uni student.
